| Sunday's Result against Pitsea |
|
Sunday's Performance Right Boy's Firstly let me say a very well done after a great result this weekend, against a good side. We started the game very brightly and at a high tempo, just as I asked before the game, with us putting them under pressure. This pressure led to the first goal which was a great finish from Gazza. It's difficult scoring one on ones, and it was a nicely taken goal. Up front generally I don't think they could get to grips with Matt and Gazza, and again as I asked before the game, they were a real nuissance. With Matt putting in a Captain's performance. After we went one nil up I think we started to give the ball away a bit to much, which resulted in us dropping deep, thus encouraging them to put pressure on us. However, after a chat at half-time, our ball rentention in the second half was much better. This was esspecially evident after we went 2-1 down. It seemed to galvanise us, with us then dominating possesion and creating some good chances, with us unlucky not to score from. It shows the importance of having a big squad, as when we brought Lee and Rolo on it helped to change the game. Considering he is injured, he was excellent when he came, on producing a Bobby Moore-esq tackle!! Lee gave us another option up front when we had him and Gazza up front with Matt in the hole, and his finish was pure class. It was a great strike, probably the best goal he has ever scored, and after that, with the amount of chances we were creating there was only going to be one winner, and luckily enough Harris popped up for us to get it. At the back we looked extremely solid with Tom having a superb game, and Pete being an absolute tower of strength at the back for us, with sarg playing excellently and improving every week. In midfield when you have Neil, Simmo and Doyle your always going to have half a chance, and in the second half essepecially they started to dominate which helped to contribute to the win. They are three quality players and its important to have good ball players in the centre of the park, when playing against a strong opposition. All in all boy's I think the result just came down to desire with us wanting it more. It was a hard game on a heavy pitch, and you gave it everything. We have now won seven in a row, but we must keep this winning run going. Although it was a great result, it won't mean anything unless we beat the other teams in our league. So lets just try and keep our feet on the ground. Next week we have another big game when we play Winston in the quarter final of the League cup. This competition is an excellent opportunity for us to win some silverware. As its a cup game their going to up for this so need to make sure we are at the races, as we certainly don't want to let ourselves down and get knocked out. Training is at 8 o'clock this Thursday over at Woodham. I'm away in Miami for the next few weeks, so therefore I will be missing the next couple of games. However, I still expext us to maintain our high standards, and I certainly don't want to come back to hear we have been knock out the Cup and lost a league game. So lets keep this winning run going!!! See you all on Thursday, and well done again. Dan
